5:59 pm - Lets talk turkey. (minus the turkey)

So whats been going on,
I saw the Incredible Hulk, and i thought it was awesome. Edward Norton made a great Bruce Banner, just like i had hoped. Hes like, not as wimpy or overdramatic as Eric Bana was. The hulk scenes were great. The action was intense and well done. I was so pumped when Abomination showed up. Truth be told, im probably a bit biased on this, because Hulk is one of my favorite super heroes. So maybe some of you might not like the movie, but I mean it wasnt anywhere near as bad as the Ang Lee movie. And it was just as entertaining as Iron Man. I swear to god i got a chill down my spine every time the Hulk roared. A. it was just a really good sound effect, and B. Hulk is just intense.
Also saw The Happening. Not a whole lot to say about this. It was another M Night Shamalamadingdong movie. Which means its gonna have a twist, which of course it did, which like all his other movies....sucked. i bought into exactly what the commercials and previews intended. they wanted you to be like, WOW! What is really "happening"? Everyone is dying?!?! What could possibly be going on?!?! and so yeah, i ended up wanting to know what was "happening." And i wont spoil anything for anyone who wants to see it, but i thought the twist was certainly less than stellar. It was a pretty gruesome movie though. It certainly was an R Rated film (which was their other selling point. M Night's first R Rated movie). It was kinda only entertaining to watch a lot of people die in unique ways. Goes to show you that when we want to kill ourselves, we can be pretty resourceful.
I've been working on playing through the Metal Gear Solid series, yeah i know im a bit late. Theyve been out forever. But seriously, i SUCK at MGS and thats part of the reason why i never really played them very thoroughly. The main reason i wanted to play them, was because ive always heard of how great the plot is in every game, and i really do enjoy plot driven video games. The other reason is that im DYING to play MGS4. I dont have a PS3 obviously, but as soon as i can afford it, im getting one and MGS4. It just looks amazing in my opinion. And i know that such plot driven games, would be difficult to jump into without knowing previous stories. So i finished MGS1 already, started on 2 last night. 1 was definitely worth it. I had a lot of fun, it wasnt as long a game as i thought but it was only a PS1 game. The story in it was awesome, and i loved all the boss fights and characters. I got the lowest ranking possible on my difficulty level, and thats because i suck at MGS like i said before. I always get caught and i die a lot. but hey, at least i finished it. and with the good ending even. i know MGS2 is considered the worst, but i know it too is short so im gonna just power through it. Im really looking forward to 3. Because i myself havent played through it, but ive seen it played through. Reid played through it trying to get 100% of the frogs back in the dorm 2 years ago. and i know what an awesome game it was, so im excited to get my turn at it.
anywho. just felt like talking about that.

so i just found this video, and i totally love it. just because its cool to see internet meme in mainstream culture. ive seen a majority of all the videos theyre poking fun at, so this just really struck a funny bone. and i really dont dislike weezer as much as i thought i did. theyre songs are catchy and fun. nothing spectacular or technically stunning, just fun.
i bet this video isnt news for a lot of you. but whatever.
edit: okay, i didnt notice this right away. so i looked it up and found out i was right, that a majority of these youtube celebrities are the actual people in the videos. Like Chris Crocker, the Afro Ninja, the kid who sings Chocolate Rain, the Numa Numa Dancer, the Star Wars kid, are all the ACTUAL people. see, i thought that they might have been at first. but then i thought, no way. why would anyone want to go through the effort to put all these people in the music video? but sure enough. weezer flew them out to L.A. to shoot the video over a 4 day period. i think thats awesome.

a lot of people i know seem to be having rough times lately. at least thats what i can gather from livejournal entries i read.
just putting my two cents in, im right there with all of you. im a swirling torrent of an emotional wreck right now. im angry, im depressed, im hopeless, im pissed off at life in general. i'm single again, not by choice, and it has been a trifling state of affairs. im tired of being mistreated by people, im tired of being kind and not receiving kindness in return, im tired of not having a direction in life, im just plain tired and want to sleep and never wake up. im preparing to make some changes to try and fix my situation though. lets hope a few things sort themselves out. with my luck streak though, im not holding my breath. ill probably just get happy again, only to have my happiness trampled upon like it always has before.
but...at least i have Smash Bros to look forward to. only 5 more days, and i can say fuck everything and everyone and smile again. im serious when i say i want this game more than i have any other game in the past. in my entire history of gaming. ive waited 4 years for this, and its finally about to happen. so, thats about the only thing im happy about
everything else....sucks.

i fucking HATE these denton people that try to sell you magazines once a semester. they knock on your door, act all friendly, ask if they can come in, then they start to compliment every fucking thing they see in your apartment. just acting so friendly. then comes the sales pitch. about how they need to collect points so they can go on a trip to god knows where. but YOU have to spend 70 dollars for them on magazines. what a crock of shit. and they all use the same angle. they tell you once you buy, they give you a sticker that "you put on your door and other participants know that you've already been taken." and christ, i even told the guy i dont want to buy anything as soon as he came in. and then he told me that i could just donate a magazine to the childrens hospital (way to pull the strings eh?). and the whole time im like, i dont have to pay right? i dont want to spend any money okay? and before i know it here comes the finale. "let me just get your address and info, and your check or money order for 52 dollars" and of course, i say i didnt want to spend money, you had me believing i was doing this for free. then he gets all mad and says, well, if you dont buy them i lose 500 points. you dont want me to lose points do you? im like, dude i dont even fucking know you. i dont give a shit. so he leaves in a huff when i refuse to give up the money. saying "well nothing in life is free dude" as i lead him to the door. trying to guilt trip me and shit. mother fucker, go peddle your wares to other brainless saps. god im so angry right now.
fuck salesmen. and people who pretend they are your "friend" but are actually salesmen.
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

4:48 am - update yo
|
so i know i said i would post results for that survey thing, but i kinda just didnt care all that much. so im not gonna. if anyone is REALLY interested, let me know and ill give you a link.
anywho. stuff has been okay. im not single anymore, which is awesome. it makes me so happy. but things are...a little shaky. probably because its long distance. i dont really feel like going into details. but lets just say i get wound up pretty easily.
school...is blah. im really really bad with skipping class lately. no matter how much i tell my self that ill get up in the morning, i just constantly hit my snooze button and roll over back to sleep. then when i wake up that afternoon, i feel like shit for not going. and my grades havent been exactly stellar. another problem dammit. if i fail at school this time, mom is cutting me off. and then im not sure what ill do. id much rather be at school than working a full time job. but i really just dont like school. im not interested in anything. i know it sounds deplorable, but id rather just sit around and play games.
speaking of which, been playing a lot of Halo 3 online. and im really good at it. like, im not a god or anything, i dont plan on being a god anytime soon. but for having not played halo 2 for a really long time before 3, im quite skilled. usually one of the top players if not the MVP of my team. and ive been able to reconnect with Victor by playing it, so thats awesome too. i bought guitar hero 3, and i really like the tracklist. most of the songs are really fun to play. but my problems from the second game are still here. the difficulty is just...ridiculous at times. brian and ramzo can attest to that with The Devil Went Down To Georgia. its just a bit unfair sometimes. and the first game did a really good job of preparing you for the next difficulty level. by the time you beat medium, you were ready to take on hard, etc etc. this game just spikes the difficulty so much from song to song. some are super easy, others are damn insane. the other problem is the battle mode. its so lame. it just ruins the songs. and the battles are over in like, less than a minute. so whats the point? oh well. at least i dont have to play it. i want to play more final fantasy XI...
in final news, Lost is an awesome TV show. i borrowed the DVDs from andrew and ive been totally hooked. its got so much going for it. great acting, great camera work and cinematography, great story, riveting plot twists, and a majority of the time it ends each episode on such a cliffhanger you cant help but watch another one. really really great shit. i highly recommend it.

3:01 pm - interesting
|
okay, so i was in philosophy on friday, and the professor posted this really interesting case study for us to learn from. he took results from the class and compared them to the study results and we were remarkably average. anywho, i wanted to post the same questions he asked us here and get some more opinions. it works like this, simply read each of the 3 cases, and decide one of 3 things. These are the exact same cases done in the nationwide study. Decide whether the action in each situation is morally permissible, meaning it could be done or not at no moral consequence, morally obligated, as in it would be morally wrong NOT to do the action, or morally forbidden, as in it would be morally wrong to DO the action. the class is Philosophy of Moral Issues, so thats where all this morality talk comes from. And id appreciate it if everyone who reads this would comment, just so i can see more results. just comment with your choice for each case. okay, here we go. Oh, and dont read into the questions like my class did. Just accept the situation as the way it is. dont worry about "zomg! why are the 5 people on a traintrack? why dont they just move?" the situation is as it stands.
Case #1 A runaway train races down the tracks. Sitting on the track a ways down, are 5 people. If the train continues, the people will be runover and killed. There is a single trackworker who can flip a switch and change the direction of the train. But if he flips the switch, the train will go down a track with 1 person on it, and he will be killed. Is it morally permissible, obligated, or forbidden to throw the switch?
Case #2 You are walking down the street. You hear a baby crying. You find a baby drowning in a pool. If nothing is done, the baby will die. And there is nobody else around who could help. But if you jump in the water, your clothes will be ruined beyond repair. Is it morally Permissible, obligated, or forbidden to jump in the pool?
Case #3 There is a major car accident. 5 people are rushed to the hospital, and each of them needs a new specific organ to live. If they dont get the organs very quickly, they will die. There is one single person sitting in the hospital waiting room. The doctors could take him and kill him in order to give his organs to these other victims. Is it morally permissible, obligated, or forbidden to harvest the man for his organs?
ill post another entry later when people have responded, telling you about the actual survey results. have fun!

8:56 pm - how about them updates?
|
So school has started, seems fine so far. I hate my anthropology teacher, cuz she gives the worst lectures. I cant grab anything out of them to put in my notes. Seriously it blows. Japanese is a lot easier the second time around. Especially since my teacher here is American born and raised, compared to my teacher at SAC who was actually from Japan. I couldnt understand her lectures and she would often just start talking in japanese in the middle of sentences. So yeah, it's pretty fun so far. Met a fun girl named Bree in my class, we got together once to study outside of class and shes pretty fun. Her hair is like, 8 colors. And I think thats pretty awesome. Sociology is blah, no complaints. Philosophy is interesting, and the Professor is nice. The only issue I have is that although the class is indeed called Philosophy Of Moral Issues, it's not some kind of fucking forum for all these kids to try and convert each others ideas. Any time we get a conversation going, it just ends up with people interrupting each other and flaming the people that differ in opinion. I try and keep quiet a majority of the time. Seems to be working out fine. Drugs and Human Health is a fun class. The teacher is SERIOUS energetic. Like, woah. Whats weird is that, im the only sophomore in there. No freshmen. Its all juniors, and majority of seniors. And little old me. So I feel a bit out of place, but I'm not really all that bothered by it.
In other news, I need to keep going to the Rec Center as a habit. I go so sporadically that I'll never see results. So if any of you all want to give me shit about going there, please do. Brian and I have started learning guitar from Ramzo. And it's been fun so far. We talk a lot about band stuff, maybe forming a band one day. Which would be totally awesome in my opinion. It would give me something to pursue rather than school, since I dont really know what I'm here for right now anyway. But we'll see what happens. I suck at guitar btw. But my fingers hurt from practicing, so at least im trying to stick with it instead of judging myself and giving up. Living with Ramzo is pretty good so far, we get along nicely. And the apartment is nice to have clean, and to have food to eat. Compared to my last living condition, which was like a third world country embodied in a single story house, it's quite the blessing. We have a ton of video games and movies now between the two of us. Which means I'm not bored most of the time. Just cant let my gaming get in the way of studies.
Time for a nerd rant! Okay, so speaking of gaming, here's whats on my plate. Im slowly trying to beat Twilight Princess. Ill do it, I really will. It might just take a while. My goal is to finish before December, so then I wont have owned the game for over a year without beating it. In the meantime, I'm constantly playing Monster Hunter Freedom 2 on PSP. I play it on the bus, during class, while I walk around campus, to kill time, when I come home, its damn near obsession. But hey, its everything I love. Like a hunter-gathering society sim. Go out, slay dragons and other monsters, harvest their parts to make more items and equipment, and go kill even bigger prey. It's awesome. I've also been pushing WoW to the wayside, in favor of Final Fantasy XI again. I float back and forth between them. But FFXI just had a new update given for 2 handed weapon users (myself, a samurai, uses a 2 handed katana). It works like this, every 2 Strength you have, gives you 1 more attack point. Every 2 Dexterity you have gives you 1 more accuracy point. That works fine for single handed weapons, since they attack much more often per minute. 2 handed weapons however, are lucky to get 4 or 5 attacks in a minute. So they changed to a 1 to 1 ratio for 2 handed weapons. 1 STR gets you 1 attack, 1 DEX gets you 1 accuracy. I love it. I was using my weapon skills (think limit breaks for FF fans) for 1300 damage sometimes. Nerd rant over.
kay, I guess thats all. maybe ill update this thing more often again. i dunno. we'll see.

If your life was a movie, what would the soundtrack be?
How to do it: 1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc). 2. Put it on Shuffle. 3. Press Play. 4. For every question, type the song that's playing. 5. When you go to a new question, press the next button. 6. Be honest... some are random and pretty irrelevent, but who cares.
OPENING CREDITS Eternal Sound - Mario Lopez
WAKING UP Tougher Than It Is - Cake (this one fits well haha)
1ST DAY OF SCHOOL Insertion - Naoki
FALLING IN LOVE Loving Cup - The Rolling Stones
FIGHT SONG Traffic - DJ Tiesto
BREAKING UP Everything Sucks - Reel Big Fish
PROM Dont Download This Song - Weird Al Yankovic (imagine slow dancing to this song haha)
LIFE IS GOOD Rocket Queen - Guns n' Roses
MENTAL BREAKDOWN Burning of the Midnight Oil - Jimi Hendrix (really creepy match up)
DRIVING Playtpus (I Hate You) - Green Day
FLASHBACK Evergreen - MC Chris
GETTING BACK TOGETHER Heartshaped Abyss - Moonspell
FINAL BATTLE Holy Mountains - System of a Down
DEATH SCENE Die Schwartzen Reiter - E Nomine
FUNERAL SONG Those Who Cannot Speak - Shadows Fall

4:58 am - tragedy strikes again
|
today was an awful day...
early this morning, at the EB Games where i used to work, while preparing to open the store, someone came in and robbed the place. and they shot my manager, Amber, to her death. the killer then took her store keys to get in the register, then locked the doors leaving her for dead inside...
this is seriously, one of the most fucked up things that has ever happened. i mean, its so frightening since i used to work there. hell, if i had been hired there after seasonal, it could have been me...
Well regardless...someone took an innocent life...all for no more than 300 dollars. i only know that because we empty the registers every night. a young life, taken away for stupid reasons.
why must the world be so cruel.
Rest in Peace, Amber.
